There was a time when I thought that the keys to health and fitness were complicated, difficult, and generally unenjoyable except to a select few.
I’d write complex workout programs, have people push it to the edge every workout and do the same myself.
I would promote overly strict diets (while not really practicing the same in my own life) and imply that clients just needed to cut out this or that to accomplish their goals.
But things have changed.
These days, I program simple, effective workouts that don’t leave clients laying on the floor after every single one.
I promote a healthy, balanced diet full of fruits, veggies, lean protein, and sometimes pizza and ice cream!
I’ve found that fitness isn’t this ever-changing state that we have to always keep doing harder and more challenging things to attain.
Fitness is the ability to engage in daily life with vitality, strength, confidence, and flexibility.
It isn’t about how hard your workout was or what macros you ate.
It goes beyond just aesthetic goals and encompasses overall well-being.
This includes having the energy to play with your kids, enjoy hobbies without physical limitations, feeling good both mentally and physically, and achieving a body that aligns with your personal preferences.
Placing the emphasis on functional fitness, enhancing the capacity to perform real-world activities and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle allows us to find a much more inviting and hopeful definition of being fit.
